Modern Diet Problems: The Hidden Reason We’re Aging Faster

The Antioxidant Deficit

The human body evolved eating roughly 600 different plant species per year. Today, most people eat fewer than 20. This dramatic reduction in dietary diversity means dramatically less antioxidant intake, and more vulnerability to the oxidative damage that drives aging.

Purple and dark-colored foods are particularly rich in anthocyanins and polyphenols, the most potent antioxidant classes. Yet these foods like beets, purple sweet potato, and dark berries are among the least consumed in modern diets.

What You Can Do

The solution isn’t complicated, but it does require intention. Increasing your intake of whole, antioxidant-dense foods, particularly those rich in polyphenols and dietary nitrates, can begin to reverse the cellular damage caused by years of nutrient-poor eating. The research shows that cells respond quickly when given the right inputs.
